To our wonderful community:

We’re excited to share with you that as of July 1st, 2022, Samaritan House and Tim’s House have become programs of the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO)!

CVOEO runs a multitude of community programs, some of which you’re already familiar with (Voices Against Violence/Laurie’s House, Northwest Family Foods, Head Start, to name a few). Samaritan House is thrilled to join this great group and enjoy more direct access to these programs and the organizational support CVOEO provides.

Rest assured that our mission remains the same. We’re still called Samaritan House, our primary shelter is still Tim’s House and we’ll continue to serve people experiencing homelessness in our community. Each of our staff members made the transition with us and the same wonderful guests who were here on June 30th are still here today. Our work supporting those in need in our community will only be strengthened by this partnership.

There are some changes on the horizon, most notably a large renovation slated to begin this fall to convert Tim’s House from a congregate shelter to a single-room-occupancy shelter. This is a change we’ve been hoping to make for some time as we believe our guests deserve the dignity of private space on their journey to permanent housing. With this change, we’ll no longer shelter families at Tim’s House but will continue to support those sheltered in local motels and elsewhere. We’ll become what’s known as a low-barrier shelter, opening our doors to a wider group than ever before and prioritizing the most vulnerable and chronically homeless individuals in our community.

For those of you who donate regularly, sporadically, or maybe haven’t donated, your support is more crucial than ever to our mission of empowering people experiencing homelessness in our community to access safe housing and support. We’ll have more information about ways to donate digitally soon, but for now the best way you can donate financially is to send a check. Our preferred mailing address for donations is:

Attn: Samaritan House

PO Box 1603

To ensure your donation stays with Samaritan House, please make checks payable to Samaritan House or Tim’s House. Donations are tax deductible (501c3: 03-0216837). Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly for ways you can support our mission outside of monetary donations. Thank you for your support over the past and in the years to come, we’re able to better serve our community because of you!
